In 2008 I enrolled in a local community college and learned Flash.
Two years later…
In 2010 the iGod shared this ‘thoughts on flash’, a 1,700+word takedown that only he could do.
A mare 7 years later…
Adobe Systems announced in July 2017 of the End Of Life for Flash would be December 31, 2020.
Fast forward to the present
There is still a ton (or so I would assume) of Flash content. I am thinking of all the web brower Flash games that Facebook (among others) made available.
I am sure some of that content will be used for years to come. And I am sure that content will need to be changed or updated.
Who will do that work?
In the Future
I would hope that the powers that be will remember the reincarnation of COBOL.
In a prior Life I went to college in the earlier 1980s. That time IBM COBOL was the language, and again it was not long before there was a epic change.
Epic changes
Like with the introduction of the iPhone led to the demise of Flash, in introduction of the (IBM) PC (Personal Computer) led to the (general use of) COBOL.
Knowledge/ Wisdom / Understanding
Knowing that things get created, life and die. And Understanding that life works in cycles, abet our biological cycles, or the cycles of our planet, or the product Life cycle; leads to Wisdom.
Was it wise to learn a dying language?
My view is yes, but maybe that me… the last buggy whip repairman.
that IBM moved from main frames
